Basic hummus recipe

I read once on some blog, that cooking blog without the hummus recipe is not a culinary blog at all. So let me introduce to you my simple, but delicious recipe for hummus and may my blog become a truly blog of cooking. I’m joking of course, but the hummus is really delicious. In the nearest future I’m gonna try some more fancy hummus recipes, and let’s see where it goes. For now – please enjoy the basic hummus with a pita bread or freshly baked bread.

  • 400 g of canned chickpeas
  • 5 tbs tahini
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 tbs extra virgine olive oil
  • 4 tbs lemon juice
  • 7-8 tbs cold water
  • additionally: sweet/hot paprika + chopped parsley
Drain the chickpeas and wash them under the water. To the food processor add chickpeas, tahini, garlic, salt, lemon juice, cold water. Turn on the food processor and slowly pour in the olive oil while it runs. When the mixture is smooth and fully mixed tip it into the serving dish. Drizzle with some extra olive oil, sweet/hot paprika and if you like – chopped parsley.
